Apple fail to get the concept of windows users and updating.
Recently I was unfortunate enough to place Apple Itunes onto my Windows Vista 64-Bit machine. As a windows user I am used to updates being listed as essential or recommended, I have stuck to this religiously since windows 98 and wish to continue, Apple however do not.
They are acting as the drug seller at a school gate – lurking to lay their hands on an unsuspecting victim. They give you the product you want but then decide that in addition i would like to see Apple Quicktime (which is buggy on OSX. I don’t even want to see it on Vista). I have no option. You are unsuspecting. I have become used to press the next button and downloading expecting it ot be an update. When it is entirely new programs. They try and get me hooked in the hope I will purchase overly priced computers to help them in their subversion of people’s minds.
I cna say luckily Apple does not just dot his too us the poor windows users. It does it to their own loyal users (and fanboys/girls). Companies report installing updates over night and the tech department in the morning reporting that now OSX has become incompatible with what the server has own it, and Apple automatically purchasing software keys for the new release (Quicktime). This can lead to problems at the worst of moments. Say your AGM when you just discover the new Quicktime is not backward compatible.
It appears to me then that Apple are the drug dealer. They make the user addicted (it would appear from use of Quicktime) and then expect the dominos to fall on the person. Buy an Iphone, Imac and Ipod – maybe they will eventually release the Irack (it could act as a testament to the real Iraq) forgive my blatant stealing from MadTV - Apple henceforth must learn to approach updates to software differently. Go for the windows class which we all understand. And do not release new versions of software as an update. At least not until the original reaches the end of its serviceable life with the company.
Come on Apple approach this like Microsoft!
